Springbrook Development Coordinator in Oneonta, New York

Salary: $22.00 - $24.00 depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Summary:

The Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the general operations of the Development Office and assisting the Director of Giving in meeting program revenue needs. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Development Coordinator will support the planning and execution of four yearly signature events along with one-off opportunities. This position will assist with annual fund solicitations (writing and working with outside vendors). The Development Coordinator will assist with stewardship activities to assure regular contact with donors including the development of the annual report, and individualized donor pieces (i.e. yearly impact reports). This position will assist the Assistant Director of Parent and Family Engagement to help organize programming and special events that supports parents and families where Springbrook provides services.

Principal duties and Responsibilities:

Database Management:

  • Ensures that all gifts are entered into the database in a timely fashion.

  • Work with the Development Operations Manager to serve as a backup for all CRM related activities, including gift entry, reporting, and prospect research.

Annual Fund:

  • Work with the Director of Giving to set performance goals for the annual fund, and strategies to achieve them.

  • Organize annual fund solicitations, including timing and nature of appeals, writing copy and working with outside vendors (as necessary) to manage all aspects of production.

  • Manage a small portfolio of current and prospective annual fund donors.

Donor Relations:

  • Assist with stewardship activities to ensure regular contact with donors including acknowledgement letter writing and individualized donor pieces.

Event & Volunteer Management:

  • Work closely with the Director of Giving to plan and execute Foundation events including but not limited to, Evening at the Morgan, Day of Giving, Springbrook Golf Tournament, Miles for a Mission events, and the Special Olympics basketball tournament.

Aid in volunteer recruitment, training and evaluation.

Government & Foundation Grants:

  • Assist in the research and preparation of foundation and government grant proposals as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Aid in successful special project completion by providing clerical support, research, and data accumulation as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Giving including assistance with preparation of grant proposals, proof reading, and office mailings.

    Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • 1-2 years of experience working in Development (fundraising, special events, donor relations or a related area).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Forward-looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.

Ability to maintain complex records and files and manipulate donor database to produce lists, mailings label and merged letters.

  • Organization, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple projects.

  • Must be able to work diligently and accurately, especially during critical periods of high volume during fiscal year end (June-July) and calendar year end (December-January) to meet prescribed daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.

  • Emotional maturity.

  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary.

  • Qualified applicants must also possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently in order to meet deadlines and achieve goals.

  • Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
