Mille Lacs Health System Security Guard- casual in Onamia, Minnesota

Summary

Responsible for executing security duties to protect the life and property of our staff, patients, residents, and visitors.

Job Duties

The essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk (*) at the end of the bullet point.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of Mille Lacs Health System's Onamia campus.*

  • Conducts regular and random walking patrols around the Onamia campus to deter criminal activity, identify hazards, and prevent incidents and safety accidents. Patrols will cover interior and exterior doors and parking lots as well as specific boiler room checks.*

  • Detect and detain perpetrators and mitigate losses from the impact of incidents.*

  • Complete incident reports after a security related incident.*

  • Responds to emergencies, alarm activations, disasters, and threatening situations with violent, dangerous or combative persons.*

  • Be familiar with the facilities' fire protection system, alarm panel and emergency response policies.*

  • Will enforce medical campus rules and takes action to maintain order and prevent disruption or interference with campus' operations.*

  • Support care teams with patients, visitors or residents.*

  • Perform safe patient observation (1 to 1), as needed.*

    Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Be at least 21 years of age.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to apply reason to a variety of situations to carry out instructions in written or oral form.

  • Completion of Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers from the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security within 1 year of hire.

  • Completion of Tiers 1-3 of MLHS' Workplace Violence training within 6 months of hire.

  • Minnesota valid driver's license with clean driving record.

    Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in security, policing, training in law enforcement or private security

  • Formal de-escalation and self-defense training
