What you can expect to do here:

Creating and communicating HSE technical information in a clear and understandable manner.

  1. Research, analysis and collaboration

  2. Gather information by collaborating with subject matter experts.

  3. Analyze technical content to understand its purpose and audience.

  4. Work closely with other technical experts to ensure accuracy and clarity.

  5. Collaborate to create documentation that reflects the task, tool or system effectively.

  6. Documentation Creation:

  7. Critical risks and specific hazard program: Safe work practices and instructions for performing safely and activity.

  8. Job Safety Analysis: Step-by-step instructions for specific tasks.

  9. User Manuals: These guides help end-users understand how to use an HSE tool or software.

  10. Other procedures, process map, guidelines, reference, forms, training material, etc.: As applicable, use to describe HSE expectations of various topics.

  11. Content Editing, curation and visual communication:

  12. Curate, edit, and write supporting documents.

  13. Ensure that the content is accurate, concise, and relevant to the intended audience.

  14. Use visual aids such as diagrams, drawings, and other media to enhance user understanding.

  15. Translate documents as required (English and French)

  16. Quality Documentation:

  17. Produce high-quality documents that cater to their specific audience.

  18. Ensure content is available and of equal quality in both English and French.

  19. Proofread document content and verify formatting before publishing.

  20. Follows and applies the good document control practices

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Knowledge of technical communication techniques and lean writing principles

  • Writing Proficiency, clarity, editing, and design (visual aids – diagrams, drawing) skills

  • Technical Knowledge and understanding, and researching skills

  • Good communication abilities

  • Experience, in writing broad variety of technical content for varied audience, preferably in the field of HSE.

  • Bachelor of

  • Arts, Technical Communication, Scientific Writing or Journalism; Technical writing certification

  • Science, Engineering, OHS, or Environment; OHS Professional Designation (CRSP-CRBOH) is an asset, or

  • IT literate with highly competent use of:

  • Microsoft Office suite (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Bilingualism is required.

  • Previous HSE experience an asset.

Decisions/Influences (which decisions does the incumbent own and which does the incumbent influence?)

  • Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations.

  • Decisions may be guided by precedent, previous experience, and known professional guidelines/compliance requirements.

  • Decisions have a modest impact on results, productivity, and/or expenditures.

  • Errors can typically be easily rectified by the next level management.

Deliverables & Key Performance Indicators:

  • Quality documents proofread and formatted in both languages as per document update schedule.

Interactions with

  • All members of the HSE Team

  • Subject matter experts on different HSE-related topics

  • Translation Team

  • Quality Team (Document control)

  • Internal clients – business sectors
