Robert Half Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant in Omaha, Nebraska
Description
We are looking for a Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant to join our team based in Omaha, Nebraska. In this role, you will be operating within the Manufacturing/Production industry, assisting in monthly cost accounting, financial analysis & planning, budgeting and forecasting activities, managing capital expenditures, and performing various accounting and financial analysis tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities for capital investments, standard product costs, and inventory obsolescence.
• Prepare, organize, and document information to facilitate decision-making processes within budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Manage and review capital expenditures, ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines.
• Conduct accounting standard establishment and analyze product cost changes.
• Evaluate cost data to identify manufacturing process variances and provide detailed explanations.
• Perform target cost calculations and analysis of potential standard cost deviations.
• Carry out month-end close activities, including analysis and reporting of manufacturing and purchase price variances.
• Prepare payback calculations on applicable investments and projects, such as running business scenarios for evaluating new product lines.
• Conduct research and development controlling activities, including establishing annual cost rate and performing monthly reporting of actual project costs vs. planned costs.
• Establish new benchmarks for cycle counting, inventory accuracy, and inventory turns.
• Prepare liquidity forecasts and reconcile deviations from plan and prior forecasts.
• Collect, review, and validate data for annual property tax and insurance.
• Lead project enhancements related to expense reports and monitor costs of external services.
Requirements
Background Requirements/Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field required
• Experience working within a Manufacturing/Production industry setting or other cost center/production-based environment highly desired
• Experience working with SAP a plus
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills a requirement
• Prior or current experience with standard cost accounting or cost-based accounting/analysis required
• Prior or current experience in financial analysis/planning/review required
• Strong General Ledger accounting skillset and month-end reporting experience
• Ability to work with and present to individuals and departments across the company's operations
