Position Information Position Title Instructor of Advanced Tribal Relations Job Summary The Evergreen State College is seeking continuing education instructor(s) with professional experience in government-to-government relations to develop and teach one or two courses in an Advanced Tribal Relations Certificate. Instructors of Advanced Tribal Relations provide rigorous, accessible, and meaningful professional education to a broad community of learners involved in coordination between public sector agencies and Washington tribes. The purpose of this education is to strengthen government-to-government relations in Washington state and to help meet professional development needs. The certificate program is designed for state employees, local and regional government workers, and tribal members in Washington state. It includes, but is not limited to, tribal liaisons. This program is offered in collaboration with the WA Department of Enterprise Services (DES). For more information about the Advanced Tribal Relations certificate at Evergreen, please visit: https://www.evergreen.edu/academics/professional-continuing-education/advanced-tribal-relations Job Expectations The part-time certificate Instructor(s) hired for this position is expected to develop and teach the following non-credit continuing education courses: History and Practice of Government-to Government Relations: State, Tribal, Federal (4 CEUs, winter quarter, 2025) Case Studies: Policies in Co-Management and Trends in State-Tribal-Federal Relationships (4 CEUs, spring quarter, 2025). Each course includes some in-person instruction, some synchronous instruction via Zoom, and some asynchronous online activity. Instructors award continuing education units (CEUs) on a "Pass/Fail" basis. Instructors will be compensated for updating/developing digital and physical syllabi, online course pages, reading lists, learning agreements, assignments, and other materials to meet course objectives. Instructional duties include teaching a combination in-person, online, and asynchronous class sessions, providing regular and prompt feedback on assignments, completing pass/fail evaluations, and creating a positive learning environment for all students. The role will also involve some participation in outreach, recruitment, and assessment. This non-credit instructor position is not eligible for continuing appointment. All requirements for the positions must be completed at the time of hire. Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in the relevant professional field(s) Professional experience as a Tribal Liaison Experience training others in government-to-government relations Professional degree, diploma, or other qualification appropriate to professional field Ability to work collaboratively with other instructors to deliver course content to students Strong understanding of current workforce trends in their field Ability to use standard technological tools required at Evergreen (e.g. email, Office Suite, etc.) Ability to develop and deliver instructional content for students with diverse levels of knowledge and experience Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in higher education settings Master's degree Conditions of Employment * As a condition of employment, persons hired must provide proof of identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of beginning work. * Prior to an official offer of employment, a Declaration Regarding Sexual Misconduct form must be submitted to the college per RCW 28B.112.080.
