Federal Aviation Administration Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Summary As a supervisor/manager, the selectee for this position will be eligible to receive a Manager Performance Incentive (MPI) provided eligibility requirements noted in agency policy are met. The MPI is an annual lump-sum incentive payment that considers agency performance, the manager's individual performance, and available funding. This position serves as a Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center (FAALC) Subteam Manager in the Product Services Group. Responsibilities This is a leadership position within the FAA Logistics Center (FAALC) that is designed to ensure logistic support activities are completed with the highest quality of products and services. This is an influential role that directly supports the safe and efficient operations of national and international systems and provides competitive business solutions for our customers. Directs the work of subordinate employees at the organizational sub-team level. Work usually includes routine project/program tasks based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Accomplishes tasks assigned to the organization through supervision of subordinate employees. The work involves substantial integration of responsibilities across a team of employees to ensure consistency and quality. Serves as a primary source of expertise for logistic support policies, procedures and regulations. Provides guidance on management of supply chain day to day activities related to acquisitions, life cycle management, material management, franchise fund agreements and interagency agreements. Managerial duties include but are not limited to hiring personnel, promotions, setting work priorities, assigning workflow tasks, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching and developing employee capabilities, approving leave, awards/recognitions and take or recommending corrective/disciplinary actions as appropriate. Establishes guidelines, policies, and procedures that govern work in the section. Fosters a work environment where all employees are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Effectively manages and motivates human resources to improve performance, encourages innovation and creative thinking, and maintains focus on customer services. Applies a comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, a detailed knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures, and a detailed understanding of the objectives of the organizational unit. Uses assigned budget, staff and other resources to accomplish sub team or organizational goals. Provides organizational planning and development, productivity, work improvement and work methods, work measurement, goals and objectives and information management for FAALC organizations. Contributes to the budget planning process and projects short-term and long-term future needs. Regularly monitors budget to actuals and prepares recommended course of action for higher-level managers. Measures the health of the section to organizational goals and objectives and recommends and implements corrective actions. As a front-line manager, they are the primary contact within their assigned sub team and reports to the organizational group, supports major sub teams in a group of peers and higher-level managers alike. Discusses the status of projects/programs and shares information. Maintains working relationships with internal organizational units (e.g. other divisions, program areas, and group support functions) approaches each problem situation with a working knowledge of financial and operational reality. Coordinates decisions involving a variety of production related issues and administrative matters. Established guidelines, policies, and procedures typically govern work. Resolves routine problems independently but consults with higher-level management when existing guidelines are not available or applicable to complex problems. May be called upon to assist in the development of new policies and procedures. Exercises significant responsibilities in dealing with management officials and staff in other organizations to coordinate activities, resolve issues and/or disagreements/conflicts. Individual and organizational performance is typically reviewed periodically by higher level management, often through status reports and organizational performance measures, to ensure timeliness, policy compliance, and alignment with project/program objectives. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
