Job Summary:

The EHS Specialist performs a variety of tasks dedicated to improving workplace safety and health, and to reduce injuries, illnesses, and environmental harm. Coordinates policies, implements safety programs, and monitors compliance with regulations.Bottom of Form

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops, implements and maintains environmental and safety compliance programs.

  • Writes Safety and Health manual as required by the corporation which meets or exceeds statutory regulations.

  • Performs in plant accident investigations to determine cause then develop and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.

  • Analyzes data to find accident trends and develop remedies to unsafe conditions or actions.

  • Coordinates safety efforts with plant supervision and relevant committees.

  • Training and updating of training with regards to safety and health issues such as accident investigation, hazard communications, waste identification, etc. Perform periodic plant safety inspections.

  • Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct, ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have knowledge of applicable Federal and State Laws and Regulations

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Physical Stamina: EHS specialists often need to conduct inspections in various settings, which can be physically demanding. Occasionally lifts to 40 pounds and frequently carries up to 40 pounds. Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis. Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending. Works within an aerospace component manufacturing and/or repair setting and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
