Job Summary

This senior level support position performs various duties related to food preparation, kitchen equipment or cashiering in order to support restaurant and catering operations while upholding health and safety standards and policies.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains and ensures kitchen equipment and preparation areas, containers, utensils and food storage areas are clean and sanitary at all times
  • Maintains records of received food supplies; may assist with ordering food and food supplies as directed
  • Attends weekly and monthly safety meetings
  • Executes catering requests to various departments while providing excellent customer service
  • Evaluates the freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items and rotating stock
  • Weighs, measures, cuts and mixes ingredients for various menu items as directed and according to specific recipes designed for assigned restaurant
  • Maintains high personal hygiene standards and conducts cleaning duties in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal sanitation, health, and personal hygiene regulations and standards
  • Washes, weighs, measures, handles and prepares seeds, fruits, vegetables, meats according to lead cook's instruction and specific recipes
  • Stores clean dishes, equipment, serving items and utensils in designated locations
  • Facilitating the procurement process and place bi-weekly food orders with approved vendors
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specific Skills
  • Knowledge of professional cooking utensils and knife handling skills
  • Knowledge of fundamental cooking concepts, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of job techniques and concepts
  • Ability to face customers for catering events involving employees of various levels
Education

Preferred: High school diploma or GED

Preferred: Vocational or technical training - Culinary training license or certification

Experience

Minimum: 5 - 8 years
