Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Head Start Education Development Coach in OK, United States

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Coaching is an interactive process of observation, discussion, and reflection in which the coach promotes your ability to grow toward identified goals. It is a cyclical process for supporting teachers’ use of teaching practices that lead to positive outcomes for children. The coaching cycle components are planning goals and action steps, engaging in focused observation, reflecting on and sharing feedback about teaching practices. You will report to the Director.

Monday-Friday

8:00am-4:30pm

Start Rate $28.59

Primary Tasks:

  1. You will interactively work with teaching staff to develop and implement ongoing goals through encouragement and support.

  2. Support the teaching staff through training to provide environments and opportunities which promote the child’s growth for any of the developmental domains, (language and literacy, health and physical development, approaches to learning, social emotional development, creative arts, science, mathematics).

  3. Coach teaching staff by modeling techniques to structure environments, routines and interactions that contribute to positive social-emotional outcomes for the children and families in a program.

  4. You will gather and track observation documentation, Coaching plans, and Professional Development Plans by following an identified evaluation plan.

  5. Coordinate training during In-Service/Pre-Service/Quarterly New Hire Training/Parent Meetings.

  6. Prepare and update annual written plans and help implement program self-assessment.

  7. Provide and lead Conscious Discipline training to staff and families.

  8. Perform other tasks as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or 4 years directly related experience.

  • Expertise in Conscious Discipline methodology and promoting growth in children for any of the developmental domains including language and literacy, health and physical development, approaches to learning, social emotional development, creative arts, science, and mathematics

  • Knowledge and education regarding developmentally appropriate practices

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Competent interpersonal skills, and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to correspond using technology, develop reports, and track data

  • Experience conducting assessments

  • Knowledge of program quality rating scales

  • Experience and education in Human Service work and study

  • 5+ years, working with young children 5 years of age or under.
