This position is housed in the Student Success Center and will report directly to the Executive Director of Retention and Student Success. The goal is to provide personalized guidance and support to students,fostering their academic,personal,and professional development to enhance their overall success in college. The position will include individual outreach and intervention for a variety of different demographics of students (e.g.,first-time,first generation,low income,returning,and transfer students). Individuals in these positions will provide a welcoming atmosphere for all students,provide a personalized experience based on students' unique needs and lived experiences,and help them navigate the different parts of the institution from connecting to FAFSA resources and payment plans to connecting with academic advisors. The role entails collaborating,developing and implementing culturally enriching programming to foster a sense of belonging and bolster student retention and persistence within the university community.This position will take on a caseload of students to welcome them to the institution and be the point person if an issue arises and they are unsure of the next steps. This position will also work with other individuals within the department to provide programming for students. Examples of tasks this position will engage with include:Plan programming and/or engagement opportunities for students within the overall center.Outreach to students as they are admitted to the institution to welcome them and let them know that they are available for questions and to meet with the student for non-academic goal setting and planning.Direct students to key resources on campus that we know lead to greater levels of persistence (e.g.,academic advising depending on their major,financial resources depending on their goals,and financial need to develop a plan of how to pay for college,on-campus job opportunities). This position will also connect students to campus (e.g.,clubs,HIEE opportunities,tutoring,advising,counseling) and community resources.Leading out in the awarding of a retention-based scholarship program.
