GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the VAC Manager and the general supervision of the Executive Director, ensure sexual assault victims are aware of community resources and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide outreach for underserved victims of sexual assault including but not limited to: immigrants, seasonal migrant farmworkers, university students, members of a rural community, and deaf individuals. LGBTQ+ and trafficking victims.
  • Assess client needs and refer clients to therapy as needed.
  • Establish referral programs with community resources and conduct outreach meetings.
  • Establish partnerships with local law enforcement agencies and statewide rape programs.
  • Represent YCC on the local Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
  • Seek out community partners, build relationships, and collaborate services with agencies and businesses that can reduce sexual assault barriers.
  • Attend local coalition meetings, community events, and any other meetings that may link YCC with potential community partners.
  • Provide sexual assault case management to a select number of clients.
  • Assist victims with Crime Victims Reparation forms and protective orders.
  • Help Facilitate weekly support groups for rape and sexual assault victims.
  • Provide advocate victim intake folders, clothes for victims, and information and referral.
  • Provide 24-hour crisis line assistance once a month.
  • Respond to daytime rape crisis callouts.
  • Maintain accurate records on all clients and enter them into the client database.
  • Assist development and implementation of Sexual Assault Awareness Events that target marginalized and underserved populations.
  • Attend YCC all staff meetings, VAC weekly meetings/trainings, and staffing meetings for victims of sexual assault.
  • Attend trainings as requested by the VAC Manager.
  • Complete 40-hour rape advocacy training.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures stated in the Employee Handbook and any applicable Policy and Procedure Manuals.

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Work, Sociology, Gender Studies, Queer Studies or Industry related field or equivalent amount of experience plus 1-3 years of experience working with individuals & families in crisis, or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English & Spanish (not required but preferred.)
  • Subject matter expert in diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and inte rpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office products: Word, Excel, Google suite, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canva,
  • Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills. Demonstrate a high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with clients and other department staff.
  • High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility with schedule.
  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Ability to think strategically and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.
