State of Utah - Jobs School Bus Driver,USDB in OGDEN, Utah

The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an employment opportunity with our Agency.  We are looking for a reliable and responsible candidate to fill a School Bus Driver position.  This position is located in Ogden.  Travel is required between all USDB campuses. Working schedule: Monday - Friday for up to 7.5 hours per day for nine months (181) during each school year. Principal Duties:

  • Drives a school bus exceeding 26,000 pounds GVW and operates related equipment to transport disabled (deaf/hard-of-hearing,blind/visually impaired,developmentally disabled,etc.) students affiliated with the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind to various off-campus events and activities;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

The Ideal Candidate: The model candidate for this position is someone who:

  • has or is willing to obtain before official start date a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with School Bus and Passenger Endorsements,air brake training.
  • Clean driving record
  • Be able to run,maneuver,navigate,and drive a school bus
  • Knowledge of school bus operation,routing,and safety
  • Knowledge of traffic control and safety procedures; applicable laws,rules,regulations,and policies and procedures
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

  • Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):

  • Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):

    • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.

    • Employees hi red on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. 

      • Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))

      • Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.  

    • Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

  • Paid Time Off:

    • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick).

    • Annual leave amounts increase with years of service. 

    • We have 12 paid holidays.
