WAGE: $17.66 DEPARTMENT: Recorder's Office PERSONNEL STATUS: Part Time BENEFITS: Retirement, 401k match, Sick/Vacation

IMPORTANT NOTE : This position is anticipated to work 29 hours per week.

OVERVIEW :

Under supervision of an administrative superior, performs a variety of routine and specialized tasks related to recording land records, and answering questions by phone, email, and walk ins.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES :

Inspect all documents presented for recordation for compliance with state code requirements. Reject all documents not meeting requirements and inform interested parties with reason for rejection. All documents that are approved will require affixing a Recorder's stamp. These documents will be presented through the mail, over the counter, or by electronic transmission.

Makes copies of legal documents and plat maps for the general public, realtors, appraisers, surveyors, title companies, from hard copies, electronic means and microfiche.

Assists the public training them on the computer system to help them with searches within the abstracts.

Collects and receipts fees; conducts daily cash register balancing of daily receipts; processes standard forms for verification of balance and deposits rec eipts and revenue.

Receives telephone and personal callers, handling any questions or matters of a non-technical or routine nature and directing others to the appropriate staff member; assists visitors in filling out forms and applications, as required.

Monitors changes in laws and regulations impacting the recording and maintenance of land records; assists in implementing changes as approved by department administrators.

Quality assurance/Quality Control on all documents entered into fee and entry, and ownership. This will consist of verifying as well as final check, and proof read legal descriptions with those in your department.

Verify mailing address through USPS and update each parcel correctly on all updated mailing address changes submitted in person or online.

Manage all privatizing of records compliant to state code, consisting of verifying each request.

Performs related work as required.

ABOUT YOU :

Education: None required.

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in clerical work; work experience must be appropriate to the position to be filled.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge: Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; working knowledge of specialized duties required by the position.

Skills: Skilled in typing at 40 wpm if required by position.

Abilities: Ability to perform a variety of clerical and typing work requiring some exercise of independent judgment; ability to make mathematical computations rapidly and accurately; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the general public.
