Title and Summary

Director, Learning & Development

Overview:

The Director of Learning and Development, Data and Technology Academy will be responsible for the development and implementation of holistic learning experiences for specific technical personas and directing cross-functional teams to design, build and deploy the learning solutions in their portfolio.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a strong track record of adult learning design in a global organization. Experience consulting with diverse stakeholders on learning needs, designing and managing iterative and scalable learning experiences, and making data driven decisions to refine and optimize programs are a must for this position.

This individual will push the boundaries of adult learning by being a pioneer in staying at the cutting edge of learning technology, disrupting the ways our learners learn, especially with the emergence of the next generation of workers. This must also be balanced with the realities of implementation constraints and therefore this individual must be adept at using constraints as catalysts for innovation.

Role:

• Acts as a learning consultant and works collaboratively with end-users, technical leaders and SMEs, and P&C partners to understand learning needs and translate them into a clear holistic learning strategy, vision, and roadmap for designated technical personas.

• Actively engages various stakeholders to keep them informed and bought into solutions.

• Uses an iterative approach to create world class learning initiatives that are outcome focused and manages adoption across target audience.

• Works hand-in-hand with multiple teams across Mastercard to implement learning experiences.

• Develops and drives the go-to-market strategy for owned portfolio, ensuring tight orchestration across L&D.

• Translates program usage data into actionable insights to shape learning strategy and roadmap, including ability to make recommendations that are backed by demonstrable evidence.

• Monitors and evaluates learning experiences through different feedback mechanisms and prioritizes and implements improvements.

• Aligns KPIs with the learning measurement strategy, closely tracks them and offers timely recommendations to ensure targets are reached.

• Leads continuous improvement initiatives to help identify new ways to better serve learners and drive higher business impact.

• Identifies and works with vendors and external partners to manage and enhance learning experiences, where needed.

• Actively manage the budget and spend for learning offerings, ensuring spend is aligned with projections.

• Drives learning innovation by championing user research and staying up to date on learning trends and advances.

• Brings external and forward-looking perspectives on how talent of the designated personas is evolving.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior professional experience designing and managing large scale, adult learning programs.

• Strong consulting skills with demonstrable record of translating needs into actionable, scalable recommendations.

• Experienced in all aspects of learning design and delivery.

• Demonstrated ability to drive learning adoption that supports organizational growth.

• Ability to lead without authority across diverse stakeholder groups and drive alignment at various levels.

• Strong executive presence with exceptional communication and storytelling skills.

• Exceptional organization and project management skills.

• Experience managing vendors and holding them to account.

• Self-directed and comfortable working with a distributed team.

• Experience with learning technology systems a plus. (LMS, LXP, authoring tools etc.)

• Culture builder and employee experience expert – passionate about fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.

Pay Range: $125,000- $200,000 USD

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
