Animal Care Attendant

Department: Specialty Services, Internal Medicine

Location: Oakville, ON

Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital is currently welcoming a full-time, dependable and outgoingAnimal Care Attendant to join our team for a 10-month contract.

This opportunity includes a range of responsibilities, which directly contribute to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. The initial role will be focused on the Internal Medicine department but may expand into other departments based on hospital needs. Previous experience in a Veterinary Hospital is an asset.

• Caring for our patients; feeding, walking and offering a gentle voice of assurance

• Ensure animal housing or enclosure is clean, sanitary and comfortable

• Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients and pet parents

• Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment

• General housekeeping duties

• Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services and updated medical procedures

• Compassion and nurturing attitude

• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and maintain a high quality of care in a busy environment

• Ability to adapt in changing situations

• Working with a team focus, assisting the veterinary staff with various procedures, tasks and treatments

• Flexibility to work in various hospital areas as required

Our Internal Medicine ACAs have the opportunity to work with and learn from our RVTs and ACAs as well as our board-certified Internal Medicine Specialists.

Schedule: 4 x 10 hours shifts per week
