Canadian Tire Senior Credit Risk Strategist in Oakville, Ontario

What you’ll do

The Analytic team at Canadian Tire Bank (CTB) has successfully used multiple sources of data to build high performing strategies across various decision areas. Analysts make use of various techniques and technology in strategy building and its integration of actionable customer intelligence. The position provides the opportunity to participate in the complete life cycle of credit risk management This includes data mining, model building, decision optimization, strategy development and implementation. You will be given the opportunity to interact with a variety of internal and external business partners which will help you develop a thorough understanding of the business, including knowledge of financial services, marketing, and retention strategies.

The Senior Credit Risk Strategist reports to the Manager, Credit Risk Early Stage Customer Management. This position is responsible for the development of credit risk strategies, customer segmentations and providing quality analytics required to build, execute, and refine strategies.

  • Develop and implement Credit Card account acquisition strategies within the context of CTFS business objectives. This includes approve/decline and pricing decisions as well as initial line assignment.

  • Develop and implement account management strategies within the context of CTFS business objectives. This includes Credit Line Management and Performance Based Pricing.

  • Create customer segmentation schemes that will provide our business partners with analytical insight into our customer.

  • Conduct validation and maintenance of all strategies and recommend appropriate courses of action.

  • Monitor and analyze strategy performance and effectiveness, identify opportunities to improve strategy performance, and translate results into actionable recommendations.

  • Develop and maintain expertise with lending, credit /behaviour scoring, portfolio management, data mining and industry trends.

  • Develop and maintain expertise with software and systems relating to Credit Risk infrastructure.

What you bring

  • University degree (Mathematics, Economics, Finance)

  • 3-5 years of experience

  • Demonstrated superior analytical, mathematical, and problem solving skills

  • Strong knowledge of statistics and predictive methods

  • Programming experience, especially with data extraction/mining tools e.g. SAS and SQL

  • Meticulousness: We're looking for someone who has a keen eye for detail and demonstrates meticulousness in their work.

  • Keen interest in a career in predictive analytics

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into statistically sound solutions.

  • Exceptional communication skills both oral and written with confidence and passion to share knowledge

  • Creative thinker who is observant to seek new opportunities and perceptive to abstract ideas

  • Demonstrates behaviours of transparency, accountability, and agility, with ability to prioritize and adapt to business demands and requirements

Nice to Have

  • Previous TRIAD experience

  • Knowledge of TSYS TS2 systems

  • Knowledge of FICO Decision Optimizer

  • Experience with predictive modeling

  • Knowledge of credit card business

  • Proficient in application of analytical and presentation tools

  • Previous experience in unsecured lending/credit cards
