Canadian Tire Data Scientist Student, Credit Risk (4 months) - Fall 2024 in Oakville, Ontario

What You'll Do

  • Reporting to the Manager of Advanced Analytics Discovery & Design in Credit Risk to develop predictive models for strategic decisions such as credit limit assignment, marketing promotions, collections, and new account adjudication.

  • Assist in designing and implementing effective model deployment techniques and tracking performance metrics.

  • Contribute to the development of new predictive models by conducting preliminary data analyses and assessing feasibility and business impact.

  • Validate and evaluate predictive models using objective-specific metrics.

  • Build and maintain expertise in lending, credit scoring, behavior scoring, portfolio management, direct marketing, data mining, and industry trends.

What You Bring

  • Working towards a University degree in Mathematics (Statistics), or Computer Science

  • Demonstrated superior analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of statistics and statistical models

  • Self-driven development of technical skills through projects or hackathons is an asset

  • Programming experience in Python/SAS/R; Working knowledge of Python’s data-manipulation libraries (ex. pandas)

  • Proven experience using Excel/Word/PowerPoint
