Description We are offering a contract opportunity for a Senior Privacy Compliance Counsel based in Oakland, California. This position resides in the financial services industry and requires an individual who can effectively manage complex cross-functional efforts related to privacy and data security. The role requires a strong understanding of evolving privacy and data security requirements, and how these apply to innovative financial services products and technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Manage complex cross-functional efforts related to privacy and data security

• Continually assess and interpret how evolving privacy and data security requirements apply to new and innovative financial services products

• Provide actionable, business-savvy counseling to business stakeholders related to privacy and data security

• Support international teams in the areas of privacy and data security

• Handle consumer and regulatory inquiries and escalations related to privacy and security

• Conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments as needed

• Review and provide feedback on privacy and security terms in commercial agreements

• Contribute to the development and maturation of a privacy program across the company, including developing and implementing processes and policies

• Educate stakeholders about privacy and data security issues in an easy-to-understand manner

• Stay updated on new and evolving regulatory requirements related to privacy and data security

Skills:

• Experience in policy and compliance review

• Knowledge of regulations and credit policies

• Proficiency in collaboration with stakeholders

• Familiarity with financial services and law regulations

• Ability to provide counseling and interpret regulatory requirements

• Experience with data privacy and data protection

• Knowledge of commercial agreements

• Experience with cutting-edge technologies. Requirements • Candidate must have a professional degree from an accredited law school

• Proven experience in the field of law and regulation

• Proficiency in policy creation and compliance review

• Ability to provide workstation support and maintain security protocols

• Skills to perform ad hoc financial tasks and credit assessments

• Familiarity with law regulation within the financial services sector

• Ability to work with various stakeholders and foster collaboration

• Experience in counseling and providing legal advice

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to commercial agreements, data privacy and data protection

• Familiarity with FCRA and GLB Act

• Ability to adapt to cutting-edge technologies

• Experience in dealing with cyber security issues

• Ability to handle deliverables effectively

• Experience in working with counsels and providing counseling

• Capable of driving progress in legal matters

• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
