National Labor Relations Board Management Support Assistant (OA) in Oakland, California

Summary This position is located in the Division of Judges of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in Oakland, CA. The primary function of the position is to provide support assistance to the Judges and support staff related to the efficient use of technology, automated systems and reports. The incumbent also provides other administrative support as necessary to accomplish the mission of the Division. Responsibilities As a Management Support Assistant (OA), GS-0303-8, your typical work assignments may include: Producing narrative reports and maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and project tracking systems for office use. Providing assistance to the judges and support staff when addressing basic questions or concerns as it relates to IT related issues in a professional matter. Conducting studies or projects to identify, analyze and recommend solutions to problems found in automated systems operations. Providing support assistance to the judges and support staff related to the efficient use of technology, automated systems and reports, as well as, providing administrative support as necessary. Ideal Candidate Statement The ideal candidate for the Management Support Assistant (OA) position has experience managing a trial docket or similar information system, as well as, assisting with the administrative workflow of an office. The candidate possesses analytical skills to oversee and give meticulous attention to detail to ensure that documents pertaining to the office's trials are completed, routed and tracked successfully. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both effectively orally and in writing. Has flexibility and willingness to cover other office duties as needed. Minimum Qualification To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Management Support Assistant (OA) at the GS-08 grade level. Specialized experience includes: Experience navigating, uploading, and retrieving information from an electronic record program; and Experience comprehending and interpreting written material; and Experience composing variety of correspondences; and Experience handling multiple time-sensitive projects. This experience must be fully supported and articulated in your resume to receive consideration. Typing Proficiency This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Your response to the typing skill question on the Assessment Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Time-In-Grade Requirement Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service is required to qualify for the GS-08 grade level. (NOTE: All Agency employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive). As a current NLRB career or career conditional employee in the Competitive Service, you may determine your current status by checking block 24 on your SF-50. Block 24 must reflect "1" or "2". Also, block 34 must reflect "1". A copy of your SF-50 must be provided for verification.) NOTE. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
