The Salvation Army (TSA), Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARC) is a no-fee program to assist men & women in completing our drug/alcohol rehabilitation program. Our Oakland and San Francisco Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced, full-time HR Generalist who will provide daily, functional and administrative support to the Human Resources Department. As the first point of contact for employee's queries on HR-related topics, this role will support the Center Warehouse and Administration Departments, as well as a eight retail stores the Oakland / San Francisco area. The ideal candidate will have four years of HR experience, be self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented and ready to meet the demands of the position.
JOB SUMMARY
The HR Generalist is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities in the assigned HR Department (s) including but not limited to: administrative tasks related to the smooth operation of an HR department, talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, worker’s compensation administration, safety and minor payroll tasks.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Recruitment and Onboarding: lead the recruitment process from job posting to pre-employment steps, to new hire orientation.
Maintain and update staffing matrix on a regular basis.
Update and securely maintain I-9s.
Create new employee personnel file and assure they are maintained according to ARC Command/Review Standards.
Submit entries into HRIS for employee changes, deductions, terminations, garnishments, etc.
Run various reports as requested by using HRIS and other software
Respond to employee inquiries and concerns and notify Regional HR Manager as necessary.
Notify managers of upcoming employee evaluations schedule
Submit TSAMM entries for Command FC Review
Set up employees in OTIS Training website and assign training courses
Report new WC claims and collect necessary paperwork for work-related injuries
Ensure all required labor and legal posters are present at each location
Become familiar with The Salvation Army Injury and Illness Prevention Program
Fulfill duties of Safety Supervisor as described in the IIPP when needed
Assist with maintenance of OSHA Log 300 and 300A
Become familiar with company benefits offered and assist enrollment for new hires and annual open enrollment
Assist with maintenance of records for Authorized Drivers for ARC, including annual MVR and safety training.
Collect, maintain and update required forms for DOT Driver Qualification Files
Provide backup to the Accounting office as necessary for HR/payroll related matters.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 4 years of progressive work experience in human resources
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred, SHRM-CP or PHR Certificate a plus
Excellent verbal and written skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Must be able to prioritize tasks and handle deadlines;
Must be self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision, adaptable and able to handle confidential matters
Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn UKG software
Possess and maintain valid Driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and other office equipment.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks

PAY & BENEFITS OFFERED
This position has a pay range of $30.00 to 32.00 hourly, DOE/DOQ; at 40 hours per week. Additional weekly hours may be required. The Pay range being offered will be based on prior experience.
