SUMMARY: Engages café guests; greets customers takes orders; prepares food/beverages; accepts and processes payments.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Prepares beverage and food orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes

  2. Enters orders into the Point of Sales System (POS); accepts cash and charge payments.

  3. Greets customers and interacts in a manner to ensure customer satisfaction; relays relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors.

  4. Demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items and explains same to customers accurately.

  5. Checks to ensure that all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards. Serve food neatly and attractively per standard.

  6. Keeps all equipment clean and free of debris during meal service as assigned.

  7. Cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments.

  8. Replenishes condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area.

  9. Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures – follows HACCP standard.

  10. Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.

  11. Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes and in following prescribed production standards

  12. Serves customers quickly, efficiently and does not allow back-ups or snags in serving lines.

  13. Develops a positive working relationship.

  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience: Customer facing work experience in a coffee and coffee shop experience

Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid local Food Handler’s Permit or get it within three months of hiring.

Preferred Certification: Barista certificate
