Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois

Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. This role focuses on overseeing a team of 2-3 accountants, finalizing financial statement preparations, and communicating with investors on various financial matters in the multifamily property owner and operator industry.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of 2-3 accountants, providing guidance and oversight in all aspects of accounting

• Finalize the preparation of financial statements for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards

• Analyze variances, scrutinize ledger details, and record adjusted entries on assigned accounts

• Review and verify the accuracy of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions

• Oversee the preparation and entry of month-end close journal entries, including accruals, depreciation, amortization, capitalization, and true-up entries

• Collaborate closely with the Controller and CFO in supporting and improving accounting processes and procedures

• Prepare calculations to support quarterly distributions and communicate with investors on various financial matters

• Conduct partnership accounting, including consolidation/elimination entries

• Assist in year-end audits and annual tax preparation work and submit monthly state taxes where applicable

• Serve as a reliable resource to accounting department co-workers and other company personnel, providing assistance in other duties as needed. Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant field

• Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Extensive experience in handling General Ledger and Journal Entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Proficient in Month End Close procedures

• Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP is required

• Familiarity with Property Management Accounting

• Exceptional Time Management skills

• Ability to Analyze Financial Statements

• Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written

• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team

• Must adhere to company policies and regulations

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus

• Must have the legal right to work in the specified location.
