Centrus Energy Industrial Safety and Environmental Waste Management Manager (31) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee

Position Summary:

Industrial Safety and Environmental/Waste Management Manager, manages all ACO-OR Industrial Safety programs, Waste programs and Environmental programs. Management of the industrial safety programs require the incumbent ensure site programs and associated activities are compliant with all OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and when applicable 29 CFR 1926 requirements. Management of the site Environmental and Waste programs require the incumbent to direct and monitor environmental and waste sampling to ensure compliance with environmental regulations to protect site personnel, the environment and public.The position requires a working knowledge of applicable environmental, waste and safety regulations as well as effective human relations, written, organizational and oral communication skills.The individual maintains working relationships with all layers of management and Federal, State and Local Regulators.

Job Responsibilities:

Must be able to interface directly with various regulatory agencies such as Tennessee Departed of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and at times, Department of Energy (DOE)

Manage site compliance with various Environmental programs such as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), Title V, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP), and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)

Manage site compliance with Federal and State Hazardous Waste and DOT Regulations (40 CFR 261-268 Hazardous Waste Regulations, 49 CFR 100-199 and 350-399 Department of Transportation Regulations, TDEC 0400-12-01 Hazardous Waste Management, TDEC 0400-20-05, State Regulations for Protection Against Radiation)

Manage site compliance with OSHA and TDEC regulations (29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, and TDEC 0800-01-01 - 0800-01-11)

Interact with TDEC, TN EPA, and state and local regulatory authorities as necessary to obtain required environmental permits for the Oak Ridge Technology and Manufacturing Center (TMC)

Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct and security program requirements

Provide OSHA, Environmental and Waste regulatory guidance/interpretation to line organizations as necessary to ensure that regulatory requirements and environmental considerations are incorporated into the Oak Ridge TMC design and operations

Provide Environmental, Waste and Industrial Safety staffing and budgetary input for existing operations and various project bids and proposals

Manage site OSHA accident and injury reporting with a goal of zero recordable or lost work-day injuries.

Has the authority to propose, develop and/or implement new programs, processes, and Procedures or revise existing programs, processes, and procedures as necessary to fulfill mission objectives within the bounds of Regulating Agencies

Position Requirements:

Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelors degree in environmental, safety, engineering, physical sciences, or equivalent technical experience (typically 8 years for a bachelors degree).

Minimum Experience

  • Eight years' experience working within environmental, waste and/or industrial safety programs four (4) of those years in nuclear industry.
  • 4 years' experience with the development and management of environmental, waste and/or industrialsafety related programs (includes procedure and training development)

Preferred Education and Experience:

Possess professional certificates indicating specialized training in Industrial Safety and/or Environmental/Waste Management (i.e., SDC, CSP, ASP, REM, etc.)

Experience managing radiological and hazardous wastes

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
