Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Chemist in Midland, MI.

This role sits within Resilience-Environment. As part of our Environmental team, you'll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental science/geology/chemistry, you will participate in a team to help execute a variety of environmental and compliance driven projects in support of project staff and project managers and will include a combination of in-office and field-based responsibilities to support our on-location, Remediation and Operations & Maintenance team.

The ideal candidate for this position will have preferred skills including remediation field sampling experience and data collection, accurate documentation of work activities, participation in the development of reports, plans, and other documents, effective collaboration with project teams, clients, and stakeholders, mechanical aptitude, experience with operations, maintenance, and monitoring of remedial groundwater systems, a strong emphasis on health and safety, proficient communication and computer skills, excellent time management, flexibility to adapt to tasks needing support, and a tolerance for physical work in outdoor environments across various weather conditions.

Role accountabilities:

The role may include: Coordinate with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation. Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment; prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork. Prepare preliminary data and scientific documents under supervision of project staff. Manage personal workloads; apprising project managers of progress and obstacles and presenting project outputs for inclusion into project deliverables. Communicate with a professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients and fellow employees. Understand and apply safety protocols for execution of field work.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required: B.S. Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or related discipline Valid driver's license (clean)

Preferred: 40 Hours OSHA HAZWOPER certification Prior experience working at an industrial facility Proficiency in standard MS office suite software applications General knowledge of the environmental, health and safety field
