Family Planning of South Central NY Clinician in Norwich, New York

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Evaluates the health status of individual patients and provides direct family planning at all clinic sites. RESPONSIBILITIES:<br>

Carries out the direct patient care in accordance with stated policies and standing orders including, but not limited to: <li>health history and review of systems <li>breast examination <li>abdominal palpation, both for abdominal masses and pregnancy determination (including estimation of length of gestation) <li>pelvic examination, both speculum and bi-manual including recto-vaginal examination <li>inspection of extremities <li>check for placement of IUD, remove when indicated <li>diaphragm fitting or checking <li>cervical cap fitting and/or checking <li>collection of laboratory specimens <li>microscopic evaluations <li>prescription of contraceptives <li>consults with Medical Director as necessary <li>refers patients with problems to outside referral sources when indicated <li>instructs patient in chosen birth planning method <li>colposcopy and cryotherapy <li>IUD insertion <li>implement treatment regimen for STD's as indicated by Standards of Medical Guidelines <li>counsels patients as necessary <li>dispenses prescription contraceptive materials <li>determines necessary return patient visits <li>recommends necessary referrals for further evaluation and/or treatment outside the clinic<p>

<li>Must comply with the outlined process of clinical orientation and proctoring by assigned Clinician II. <li> Participates in educational activities of the agency including staff in-service, orientation of new staff and volunteers training and community education programs <li>Participates in continuing education and in-service training to further own professional development and that of other staff

<li>Participates in the development of FPSCNY policies and protocols as assigned.

<li>Participates in long range planning for clinic services.

<li>Travel between FPSCNY clinic sites and to meetings, conferences and training as required.

<li>May have to cover co-workers' planned and unplanned time away from the office.

<li>Participates in FPSCNYs Quality Risk Management activities.

<li>Will become knowledgeable about Title X funding and the billing/coding of their clients.<p>

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current New York State registrations and/or licenses as applicable. Previous experience in reproductive health and family planning services. Able to perform exam and services to both male and female patients. Commitment to the mission of Family Planning. Access to reliable transportation to travel in all counties.
