Medtronic US Market Access Director - Diabetes in Northridge, California

Understanding the foundational standards for coding, coverage, and payment will be necessary to inform early product development. A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following: 

  • Develop and implement market access and reimbursement strategies and programs to support patient access

  • Understand the differentiation of our product offerings to obtain coverage, coding, and payment from payor/providers 

  • Shape the health economics and outcomes research evidence plan to support initial product launch and long-term pricing and coverage objectives

  • Provide market-access and reimbursement-related advice to product development teams, marketing, sales, regulatory, clinical, and business leaders. This includes ensuring payor requirements are identified, and appropriate HEOR evidence needs are included into product and clinical trial plans through the product development process 

  • Identify payor, provider, or patient opportunities and barriers and implement programs to increase product adoption

  • Work closely with internal functions like Governmental Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality and our commercial teams as well as external partners (payors, governments) to initiate and guide projects 

  • Collaborate with external health policy leaders (CMS, Scientific Societies, trade associations) to influence and advance health policy and support access to innovative technologies

  • Monitor and educate on industry trends, regulatory changes, and payor policies that impact reimbursement and commercial goals   

  • Partner with global region reimbursement teams to share best practices and contribute to the overall diabetes reimbursement strategy

  • Travel approximately 15-25% (variable based on office/remote location)

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant healthcare experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant healthcare experience (medical device preferred)

  • 7+ years of managerial experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of US payors' system including Medicare, health insurance policies, payor/provider and billing procedures and regulations.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful reimbursement strategies in the US

  • Understanding of health economics and outcomes research and value communication

  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking and problem-solving

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills -- written and verbal 

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree in health policy, public health services research, health economics, or related discipline

  • Expert knowledge of the US healthcare and insurance system and their specific finance structure

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in market access, health insurance and as a surplus pharmaceutical industry in the area of funding, reimbursement and/or health economics application in healthcare environment. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in securing coverage, coding and payment for a new product 

  • Ability to maintain proactive relationship with payors, providers, and government agencies

  • Track-record of building a deeply connected and highly engaged team by fostering employee inclusion, enhancing teamwork and benefit from diverse skills and experience

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico). Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc.
