NHS Management, LLC Pharmacist (Part Time) in Northport, Alabama

Job Description

To provide quality pharmaceutical services to long-term-care and institutionalized residents, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Pharmacy. Participates in and oversees workflow for the dispensing of medication in accordance with all state and federal regulations in addition to Senior Care Pharmacy policy. Ensures that medications provided to residents are safe, accurate and available in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelors degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy or PharmD • MUST have current, unrestricted licensure in the state(s) where you will be practicing. • 1 year experience at a long-term-care environment preferred. • Leadership and supervisory experience preferred. • Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly identify problems and find effective solutions. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Basic computer skills; experience with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred. • Ability to make independent decisions. • Ability to multitask and complete jobs without supervision. • Ability to assess information and make prudent, professional decisions. • Ability to work and produce results under pressure. • Ability to effectively and harmoniously interact with facility, management and other employees at all levels; promotes teamwork and professionalism. • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. • Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision. • Must be at least 21 years of age. • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. • Must be capable of performing the ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS and PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL JOB FUNCTIONS as outlined below.

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected. • Support the Mission, Values, and Vision of Senior Care Pharmacy. • Report to Management immediately all instances of misappropriation/handling of company resources. • Support, cooperate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for: o Maintaining confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data. o Safety and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs. o Compliance with all regulatory requirements o Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from harassment, and all illegal and discriminatory behavior. • Support and participate in common teamwork: o Cooperate and work together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment. o Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. o Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns. o Promote positive public relations with residents and family members. o Complete requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned. • Provide great customer service to internal and external customers: o Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests. o Support Senior Care Pharmacy in a friendly, courteous, and cooperative manner. • Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA Privacy and Security.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs and/or oversees the completion of all routine and tasks, including but not limited to: o Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, route of administration, potential drug interactions, special geriatric considerations, warnings/precautions associated with prescribed medication, potential adverse reactions, and stability. o Suggest therapeutic intervention based on SCP Formulary to physician and/or to nursing staff where appropriate. o Collaborates with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide quality pharmacy services. o Procures and maintains all required documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as SCP policy. o Ensures accuracy of filled medications. o Provides Clinical expertise by responding professionally to medication related questions. o Assists the Director of Pharmacy Operations with instructing, directing and overseeing pharmacy technicians and staff. o Follows current guidelines for preparing all compounds, including I.V. therapy. o Understand and follow SCP Policy and Procedures. o Take On-Call responsibilities on a routine basis. • Accepts ownership and accountability for the successful completion of assigned functions and achievement of goals. • Strives for compliance by all staff with internal controls and state and federal regulations. • Participates in the development and successful implementation of plan(s) of improvement as indicated, recommended and/or required by Supervisor, Director, or any other corporate or regulatory compliance consultant. Communicates progress toward goals and ongoing obstacles to supervisor and company management team, verbally and/or in writing or as dictated. • Provides training to other staff that is necessary to successful job performance, consistent with company standards and expectations, and facilitates cross-functional awareness and proficiencies.
