Actalent Senior Electrical Engineer in Northbrook, Illinois

Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

As a Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the full life-cycle design and development of electronic products. This includes requirements definition, circuit design, schematic capture, PCB Layout, possible embedded firmware development, integration, and testing. Your role involves providing engineering expertise to design and develop electronic products across medical, consumer, and industrial markets. You will work both in small teams and independently to execute contract engineering projects for various clients. The typical design projects include analog with data acquisition, small power supplies, microprocessors, and interfacing with wireless radios, which constitutes about 80% of our projects.

Hard Skills

  • BS in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years in Full Life Cycle Product Development

  • Experience with Digital and Analog electronics, microcontrollers (about a 50/50 split daily)

  • Proficiency in Altium for PCB and PCBA layout

  • Knowledge in AC/DC circuits

  • Experience with C programming

  • Experience with wireless communication systems and radios, power supply (nice to have)

  • Embedded Firmware Experience (nice to have)

  • Medical Device Experience (nice to have)

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team

  • Experience interfacing with both internal and external customers

  • Strong planning and task management skills to deliver products on schedule

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Northbrook, Illinois.

Work Environment

The role primarily requires onsite work in Northbrook, IL, as it involves close collaboration with technicians, software engineers, and testing teams. While the position is mostly hands-on, there are opportunities to work from home during days focused on writing and planning.
