UL, LLC 2025 Summer Intern: Finance/Accounting Intern in Northbrook, Illinois

As our global footprint continues to spread across the world, we are looking for a Finance/Accounting Intern to join our team in Northbrook, IL.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

Our Finance/Accounting Internship has assignments that span the areas of Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, Accounting, Sourcing, Business Services (Credit & collections, Accounts Payable), and Business Division Support.

As a Finance/Accounting intern you will work within one of the following teams:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Operational Finance

  • Real Estate/Facilities Finance

  • Sourcing

  • Internal Audit

  • Controllership

  • GL Accounting

  • Reporting/Consolidations

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Extract data from financial systems and perform financial analyses to explain variances in financial performance of various organization segments, or to develop a business case for an investment project, or to assess the impact of changes to a business process.

  • Participate in the development of budgets, forecasts, or strategic plans. This participation would include managing complete and timely inputs, compiling the data, summarizing it for management review and investigating variation from expected outcomes.

  • Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries. Assist in the preparation of financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends. Perform account reconciliations.

  • Participate in the research and analysis of the impact of changes in accounting standards or company strategies or other special projects.

  • Work on projects that will improve efficiency, improve service levels and lower the cost of operations for shared service processes such as credit, billing, collections, cash applications and accounts payable.

  • Support business case development, due diligence and integration for company acquisitions.

  • Assist project managers in developing business cases and utilizing practices that will improve ROI on key capital investments.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you a great fit

  • Rising senior currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or similar area.

  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret information from diverse sources.

  • Working knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting through education or internship experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point).

  • Experience working with business ERPs (Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) is a plus.

  • Indefinite right to work in the United States.
