State of Massachusetts Registered Nurse V in Northampton, Massachusetts

The Department of Developmental Services is seeking candidates to a Registered Nurse V position within Commonwealth Community Services (CCS). This position functions as the Health Care Coordinator and is responsible for direct and indirect supervision of Nursing personnel; oversees the quality of health care provided to individuals and effectively utilizes the available resources. Incumbents of this position provide consultation and clinical supervision to nursing staff; direct service providers and managers regarding complex clinical cases and treatment strategies. Manages resources by providing direct clinical supervision to MAP RNIII’s, caseload RN II's and indirect supervision of RN I's and LPN's. Maintaining direct involvement with and knowledge of the needs and health issues of the individuals supported by three residential programs consisting of 24 homes and the Medication Administration Program. Reviews and screens referrals to residential vacancies to ensure that appropriate supports can be provided. Confers with management staff on a wide range of procedure and planning matters, including but not limited to; budgetary, administrative, clinical and professional, other impediments, constraints or supports needed to ensure adequate and appropriate health supports for individuals. Arranges for training on health-related topics. Perform related duties such as compiling statistics, preparing reports, reviewing and analyzing trends on health, safety or related topics within Commonwealth Community Services; review ISP, Healthcare records and other health related documents. Participate on DDS committees or task forces, receives information regarding health initiatives from Central Office/Regional Office and ensures distribution and implementation. Implements and revises MAP procedures in Commonwealth Community Services; reviews all MAP audits to ensure compliance with MAP; makes recommendations for program improvement as needed, conducts individual and group supervisory meetings with MAP Audit/Training staff. Review Medication Occurrence Reports for licensed nursing staff, track license and CPR requirements for Commonwealth Community Services nurses, consult and work collaboratively with other Health Care Coordinators (RN V's) in the Central/West Region, consults with other key Central/West management and administrative staff as needed. _Please Note:_ This position is located in the Commonwealth Community Services Program, based out of Northampton, MA, with travel throughout the Central/West region. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic or medical facility and (B) of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Graduate degree with a major in Nursing may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.* No substitutions will be allowed for the required (B) experience. Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL LEVELS IN SERIES: Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing . Recent graduates from an approved school of nursing must have applied for the first available registered nurse examination.
