The Amazon Robotics (AR) Global Operations organization manufactures high-quality robotics for design centers across Amazon. It’s a fast-paced operation that works cross-functionally with teams across Amazon globally. The Advanced Product Quality Engineering (APQE) team is a multi-disciplinary organization that does Quality Engineering and Quality Systems Management across AR’s Global Enterprise. This position will report to Quality Engineering Manager.

We are actively seeking a talented and motivated engineer with a proven track record of implementing Quality Engineering principles in NPI and sustaining products. You will be working with cross-functional teams that engage in product development for both internal and external manufacturing operations.

Key job responsibilities

Actively foster a culture of inclusion.

  • Engaging in internal and external business partners to deliver key artifacts such as (DFMEA, PFMEA), DFX, New Unique and Different (NUD) and MAP.

  • Embed with Hardware, Manufacturing, and Test Engineers in defining success criteria for early production builds in new programs.

  • Represent quality and report status and risk mitigation in NPI Program Reviews.

  • Partner with peer teams such as Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Test Engineering to drive data-driven risk mitigation/strategy.

  • Reporting in program reviews and top-level quality performance reviews/dashboards.

Responsible for:

  • Managing NPI quality program schedule and respective engagement planning

  • Defining NPI quality deliverables and deliver in collaboration with stakeholders in Supply Chain, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Deployment, and Global Support Services

  • Participating in NPI phase gate reviews to ensure quality requirements are met

  • Conducting supplier assessments for key suppliers to identify risks and implement supplier development plan.

  • Defining APQP/PPAP strategies, review and approve related documents (D/PFMEA, Control plan, FAI, Process capability studies etc)

  • Conducting failure analysis, root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve product quality.

  • Contribute to lessons learned and process improvements.

Up to 40% travel required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, computer science or related engineering field.

  • 5+ years of experience in applying Quality Engineering principles like APQP, PPAP, DFX and FMEA in new product introduction.

  • Strong process improvement mindset for Agile environments, passion for quality.

  • Excellent business communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Able to write clear and persuasive papers.

  • Able to operate in a highly ambiguous environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree(s) in Engineering and/or Business/MBA

  • Technical expertise in Mechanical and Electrical components common in Robotics (i.e DC motors, PCBAs, metal fabrication, gears/bearings, sensors, vision systems, etc.)

  • Technical / Engineering Program Management Experience

  • Multi-industry and/or consulting experience in applicable industries (Automotive, Aerospace, Medical Device, etc.). Startup experience is a plus.

  • Six Sigma Green belt

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

  • Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standards

  • Experienced in statistical data analysis
