The Power and Precision Product Definition Senior Engineering Manager is a visible role responsible for working with marketing and other functional groups to define the division’s DC multi-generational product roadmap and define DC instrumentation products that best address our customers’ upcoming needs for our SoC ATE products. SE develops concepts, architectures, product requirements, and risk management plans.

This individual’s team focuses on defining DC instruments for Teradyne’s Semiconductor Test Division. DC instruments at Teradyne are generally very dense (>100 channels per instrument), and each optimizes the channel circuitry to meet the given end market needs. Device Power Supplies (DPS) are usually low voltage, high current designs that typically optimize load transient response, voltage accuracy, and power efficiency. VIs can be high voltage (>100V), range from low to high current (10A), and incorporate many possible enhancements depending on the market need (floating, precision measure and force, time measurement, ultra-low leakage, etc).

This individual will report directly to the Director of Systems Engineering.

Opportunity Overview

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead the power and precision instrumentation multi-generational roadmap. Drive strategic planning by which we align our R&D investments and the marketing strategy, identify the required enabling technology and define product line architectures.

  • Overall system architecture of our DC products and instrumentation for our flagship Automated Test Equipment. These products involve deep stacks of circuit design, ASIC, firmware, embedded software, and host software, as well as sophisticated mechanical packaging.

  • The functional excellence of the team.

  • Leading a SE team (electrical/mechanical/software) in MA.

  • Team management including making hiring decisions and onboarding employees, career planning, conducting performance evaluations, and salary planning.

  • Maintaining and improving existing processes and tools

  • Allocating resources to projects.

  • Supporting multi-functional DC project teams on new product definition, capabilities, requirements, and architectures.

  • Strong system architecture discipline and vision to mentor architects through complex tradeoffs to achieve optimal design.

  • Build and champion relationships inside Teradyne and with customers with an emphasis on teamwork, accountability, and building trust

  • Ongoing collaboration with inbound marketing on managing the division product roadmap and R&D portfolio.

  • Reviewing and advocating product strategy directions with division leadership.

  • Generating excitement in engineering teams around the product roadmap and challenges ahead.

  • Curiosity and awareness of technological, market, and competitive trends.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field OR equivalent experience

  • Successful track record of defining and bringing winning products to market

  • Experience in leading product development projects and engineering organizations.

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus

  • Ability to travel domestically and internally up to 10-15% of the time
