Opportunity Overview
Teradyne is looking for an experienced Hardware Instrumentation Design Manager with a strong focus on DC/power design and product delivery. The person that fills this role will lead a hardware instrument design team, working cross functionally with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineering to design high quality, state of the art test and measurement instruments.
The position will be responsible for the following:
Functional management of a team of DC/Power hardware product design engineers
Planning and executing the hardware development portion of multiple concurrent instrument projects, from concept through production release (developing plans, schedules, and staffing assignments)
Ensuring that products are meeting requirements and are delivered on schedule
Ensuring that product development teams follow established processes as well as championing the advancement of new processed and methods
Providing technical expertise in all aspects of the hardware design process by actively participating in, mentoring others in, and guiding project teams through design reviews, specification reviews, simulation reviews, verification and test plans, vendor selections, and other technical process steps
Hiring, mentoring, and retaining engineering staff
Participating in cross-functional teams to develop architectures, systems designs, and specifications for new products
Maintaining a collaborative cross-functional working environment with the product management office, manufacturing and new product introduction, and other engineering disciplines such as software, mechanical, and systems engineering
All About You
The ideal candidate will be a senior manager, with a MSEE and 5+ years of experience leading product development of DC/Power hardware and instrumentations. They will have been involved in design and development, using established best practices in their product development processes.
MSEE preferred/BSEE required
5+ years of experience as a functional manager and project leader for the development of DC/Power instrumentation
10+ years of experience in hand-on design and development of instrumentation
Proven track record of delivering complex designs to manufacturing and product availability, with end to end development cycle ownership
Demonstrated experience in the development of board level (PCB) based products involving disciplines as as PCB CAD, mechanical engineering, connectors and cables, system level calibration, and software development
Experience in technical oversight of vendors and contractors in addition to permanent staff
Strong project management skills, PMP certification a plus
Strong people and team management skills, with direct experience in functional management of 5 or more staff members
Must be a highly effective communicator
