University of Iowa Community Credit Union Compliance Specialist in North Liberty, Iowa

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for or assisting with National Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) registry and renewals, vendor management, document management, record retention and document destruction, credit bureau reporting and disputes, Credit Union policies, regulatory compliance monitoring, and compliance training. Additionally, this position serves as a regulatory compliance resource to Credit Union personnel.

Salary range for this position is $79,173.90 - $105,966.64 with a progressive benefit package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not

limited to those listed, and are subject to change:

  1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in conducting GreenState's mission and vision.2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times.3. Demonstrates teamwork in interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.5. Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.6. Manages the National Multistate Licensing System (NMLS), which includes annual license renewals and registry process including new hires, transfers, terminations, and oversight of annual attestations.7. Assists the Legal Department with the Vendor Management Program including but not limited to contract reviews, onboarding new vendors, ongoing vendor due diligence and reporting requests.8. Responsible for the Credit Union’s Record Retention and Document Management programs, which includes keeping record retention documentation current, research of and responding to business line record retention questions. Collaborates with the Project Manager and VP/Compliance and Risk to develop the organization-wide Document Management programs.9. Serve as a regulatory compliance resource for Credit Union personnel.10. Assist VP/Compliance and Risk in developing, reviewing and revising policies. Policies will be reviewed, and revised as necessary, whenever there are changes to regulations or changes in the Credit Union’s business operations requiring a policy change, but no less frequently than annually.11. Assist in the preparation of policy related Memos to the Board and/or applicable Board Committee.12. Assist VP/Compliance and Risk in identifying, ordering, and scheduling compliance courses for Credit Union personnel. Assist in identifying Credit Union departments/personnel required to complete compliance courses.13. Enhance and maintain procedures related to policy creation and maintenance.14. Assist in the preparation of policy related Memos to the Board and/or applicable Board Committee.15. Responsible for monitoring applicable regulatory compliance updates and notify the appropriate business unit(s) of said change(s) in a timely manner. Collaborate with the Policy Owner(s) to update the appropriate policies, if necessary.16. Monitor applicable business units for compliance following implementation of updated compliance regulation(s).17. As assigned by the VP/Compliance and Risk, participates in Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) readiness activities.18. Responsible for receiving, processing, resolving, and responding to member disputes received via phone, mail and E-Oscar related to credit bureau reporting.19. Responsible for ensuring compliance with Metro 2 guidelines according to industry standards.20. Track and maintain member credit report inquiries and disputes.21. Investigate, answer, and resolve member credit reporting disputes within set parameters.22. Perform account level reviews and root cause analysis.23. Function as a liaison between the Credit Union and credit bureaus on regulatory updates.24. Collaborates with Fraud personnel on disputes involving claims of fraud and/or identity theft.25. Perform necessary updating of loan data on internal systems and E-Oscar.26. Verify credit bureau reporting is compliant with FCRA and CDIA Credit Reporting Resource Guide.27. Other duties as assigned by VP/Compliance and Risk.

Job Requirements/Expectations

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study or certification in related field along with a minimum of five years of banking, compliance, risk or audit related experience.2. Report to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by business demand.3. Ability and desire to interact with co-workers to develop positive and effective working relationships in all areas of the Credit Union.4. Ability to effectively gather and analyze information in the course of review and monitoring.5. Ability to prioritize assignments, organize work efficiently, and manage large volumes of details.6. Ability to work independently.7. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.8. Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel).

Reporting Relationship

Reports to Senior Vice President/Compliance and Risk.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
