U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command Management and Program Assistant in North Chicago, Illinois

Summary About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago in Lake County, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 66 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations/Remote Processing Stations), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the recruiting services. Position is in J3 - Operations Directorate. Responsibilities Supports the directorate staff in various programs, processes, and projects. Collects, analyzes, and assists supervisor, and management analysts in analyzing a myriad of data categories (e.g., measurement indicators and trend data). Assists personnel in access, use, and updates in various applications (e.g., command’s intranet site, Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS) and Defense Travel System (DTS)). Assists supervisor in processing Request for Personnel Actions (RPAs). Provides initial and refresher training to directorate personnel for the task management tool/system (TMT/S). Tracks external/incoming taskers and disseminates to appropriate personnel for action. Serves as primary Training Coordinator (TC) for the directorate. Prepares and submits administrative reports and documentation (e.g., significant events report when required; numerous recurring and special reports, and updates to the command group). Provides a variety of contract related administrative and support duties to directorate requirements owners. Receives visitors and telephone calls. Maintains director, deputy director, and directorate operational calendars and schedules. Gathers, reviews, analyzes, and consolidates directorate budgetary needs Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Telework eligible position - Position has an official duty location of North Chicago, IL and is eligible for Situational Telework at the discretion of the Command. Experience Required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Working on special studies/projects and presenting findings via briefing charts, reports or information papers; Tracking and modifying the command's intranet site to reflect most recent changes, updates and user access issues; Coordinating with directorate personnel and supervisors to ensure military and civilian training requirements/timeframes are met; Tracking external/incoming taskers and disseminating to appropriate personnel for action; Maintaining files/records and forms/documents of directorate correspondence, including contract actions, utilizing various computer systems to retrieve and compile required data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Clerical Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Reasoning (Clerical/Technical) Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
