Job Description

Seeking a highly motivated and experienced research scientist to join our Protein Sciences group in the Chicago area. The candidate will be working in a highly dynamic group to provide protein purification support for a variety of small molecule drug discovery programs. The candidate should have protein purification and characterization experience and be proficient in chromatography.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform purification of recombinant proteins using chromatographic methods.

• Characterize protein with SDS-PAGE, western blot, and other biophysical methods.

• Continuously drive for improved process performance and provide scientific insight to overcome issues such as solubility, purity, heterogeneity, and yield.

• Ensure that experiments are planned and coordinated cross-functionally as well as executed effectively.

• Handle issues with a sense of urgency when required.

• Author associated technical reports and documents.

• Work independently with team spirit. Be accountable for the technical performance and results of the team.

Hard Skills

• Hands-on experience in recombinant protein purification

• Experience in protein characterization with biophysical methods (SDS-PAGE, western blots)

• Good record keeping and attention to detail

• Experience working in a laboratory environment

• Ability to learn and adapt quickly

Work Environment

Group setting, full-time on-site role, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
