SAIC Senior CAD Design Engineer in NORTH CHARLESTON, South Carolina

Description

SAIC is seeking an expert in systems integration and CAD design, as well as a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) specialist, to join our dynamic Engineering Innovation Factory Team. Comprised of solution architects and digital engineers, this team is at the forefront of defining and constructing the infrastructure pivotal for the Digital Engineering Transformation across our industry.

Our endeavors in crafting digital threads and digital ecosystems encompass a thrilling range of programs, customers, and corporate initiatives. These span various sectors, including Defense, Federal Civilian, and National Security environments. This position is potentially remote, open to any suitable candidate within the U.S.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative candidate to join our team and make a substantial impact through the application of advanced design processes and digital engineering methods, including Model-Based Engineering (MBE). The successful candidate will possess a proven track record in leveraging digital engineering solutions to achieve transformative outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Software Development Support: Offer assistance in both software development and training, particularly in projects that exploit practical design applications with high-level CAD systems.

  • Application of Expertise: Utilize your comprehensive understanding of design and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to support and improve digital engineering solutions and services in a dynamic, rapid-prototype environment. Process and package Technical Data Packages (TDP)s into and out of SAICs PLM tools.

  • Continuous Learning & System Integration: Engage continually with our Digital Engineering platforms to understand and document stakeholder and system requirements, promoting dialogue and understanding of digital solutions, thus enriching our digital engineering culture.

  • Collaborative Engineering: Work hand-in-hand with design engineers on direct program initiatives, enhancing overall knowledge and use of modeling techniques, and ensuring effective adoption of Digital Engineering work products.

  • Community Engagement: Actively participate within the broader Industry, Government, and Academia circles to absorb and apply the latest trends, emerging technologies, and cutting-edge methods to enhance our digital engineering practices.

  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and share knowledge of our proprietary solutions and standards, coaching colleagues to ensure collective advancement and consistency in our approach.

  • Business Development Support : Contribute to proposal development and other business growth activities, utilizing superior presentation and writing skills to articulate value and strategic vision.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 5 + years of experience, Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or a recent Ph.D. graduate. Candidates with an additional 4+ years of professional experience, and an Associate’s degree, may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated expertise in setting up, administering, and conducting training for CAD tools within a PLM system.

  • Deep understanding of design process workflows and lifecycles.

  • Proficiency in creating, managing, and integrating legacy (TDPs).

  • Innovativeness in establishing new processes and procedures to optimize design support methodologies.

Technical Proficiency:

  • High proficiency in leading 3D CAD software with a focus on CREO and SolidWorks. Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Siemens NX will be considered advantageous.

  • Proficiency with Aras Innovator PLM will be considered advantageous.

  • Ability to thrive in a remote team environment, initiating and managing tasks in support of collective goals.

  • Self-motivated to research and integrate new ideas, leveraging state-of-the-art hardware and software to enhance the design process.

Citizenship:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
