ASRC Federal Holding Company Environmental & Safety Manager in North Charleston, South Carolina

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Implements safety programs including but not limited to fire prevention, Disaster Plans, Employee Injury, Vehicle Safety, Lead Safety, Hazardous Noise, Heat Stress, and Hazardous Communications Forklift Operations, Hot Work Operations Lock-out/Tag-out Procedures.

  • Performs weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections per FLETC’s contract requirements and submits reports to FLETC for these inspections.

  • Conducts New Employee Safety Training and Annual Safety Refresher Training.

  • Oversees the Hazardous Substance Management System Program.

  • Maintains Master copy of all SDS including inventory and locations of all Hazardous Materials/Chemicals.

  • Approve all Hazardous Materials/Chemicals before they are brought on site and ensure all products are on the Authorizer User List (AUL) before they are issued.

  • Maintains files and records on site of all employee’s certificates, medical surveillances, training records per applicable federal, state, local and FLETC regulations.

  • Brief management and co-workers on specific findings observed during quality checks and offer corrective action/solutions.

  • Keep supervision informed of events, progress, and any issues. Must have excellent leadership, management, attention to detail, customer service, and be support oriented.

  • Must understand, embrace, and practice the teamwork concept.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Additional duties and assignments as directed by the Program and Deputy Program Managers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • 5 years’ experience (within the last 10 years) in field management of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety/Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, managing environmental and safety compliance programs.

  • Shall possess a demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to, OSHA General Industry Standards, Hazardous Waste Management, Hazardous Materials Transportation (HAZWOPER), Asbestos Inspector, and various Federal, State, and Local code requirements.

  • AHERA Asbestos Inspector training and Hazardous Waste Site Operation training must be completed within six months of acceptance of position.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Must be a US or Naturalized Citizen.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Available to flex hours if needed to support after-hours support.

  • Clear and effective written and communication skills

  • Ability to collect/input system data and generate various reports as required.

  • Must be able to pass a background investigation, drug test, and physical exam.
