What You Will Do
- JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing technical leadership, guidance, and support to the MBU’s & production maintenance shops ensuring the mechanical reliability and sustainability of all cigarette making and packing equipment through performance monitoring and breakdown analysis to achieve goals in safety, reliability, and productivity across all shifts. This role is critical in the evolution of the preventive maintenance (PM) program and will assist in the development, execution, reliability, and performance enhancement of the program. This is accomplished through such activities as supervising and directing the adjusters in daily equipment maintenance and repairs, addressing daily parts issues, and motivating and addressing performance issues with employees as needed to manage and achieve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and goals. Implementation of new Predictive Maintenance process. Fill in (when needed) and understand Production Maintenance Planner Roles and Responsibilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Supervise and direct the execution of the preventive maintenance program for all cigarette making and packing equipment.
Direct work, communicate expectations, coach, train, and address performance issues with critical repair employees ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and internal policies and standards.
Use various systems (e.g., Machine Information Systems (MIS), SAP, Business Objects, DAR, AIC, and any other machine and maintenance systems) to identify trends for improved machine performance, cost reduction, and/or reduction in quality defects.
Supports the development of the annual production maintenance department budget to maintain productivity, quality and safety standards while meeting or lowering budgeted cost, specifically in parts management.
Use root cause analysis (RCA) methodology to design and develop strategic plans andimplementation. Conduct BU1 meetings with team and actively participate in BU2 meetings. Lead and participate in cross functional PDCA initiatives to drive improvement in all areas of manufacturing.
Collaborate with MBU’s – participate in team meetings, improve PMs to support improvement in manufacturing processes.
Builds strong relationships with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suppliers to assist troubleshooting and maintain up to date revisions on equipment and technical documentation.
Back up to Production Maint. Planner (Must know all Roles and Responsibility’s) when needed.
Serve as point of contact for MMP/APS program with vendor for PM’s and parts inventory
Implementation and governance of yearly CapX program
Implementation and governance of LOTOTO/Machine Guarding processes and procedures.
Yearly evaluation and stock of consumables and tools and evaluation and inventory of ASO5. All parts reviewed.
Adapt and implement revisions to the maintenance strategy based upon input from Manufacturing Excellence (ManEx) and/or Group.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma / GED and 7+ years relevant work experience in mechanical and production maintenance
3+ years of supervisory experience
Must be 21 years old or older
Knowledge of:
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
Business and management principles involved in production leadership such as planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Skilledin:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field of study and 3+ years relevant work experience in mechanical and production maintenance
License / Certifications:
- Lean certification (e.g., Green belt, Black belt, etc)
Work Environment and Physical Demand
Requires physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves moderate to heavy weight objects (10-50 lbs.).
Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods.
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment.
