SMBC Software Engineer - SRE (Remote) in North Carolina

Short Description

Software Engineer – Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) sought by SMBC MANUBANK in Los Angeles, CA.

JOB DUTIES: Responsible for monitoring the applications and responding to events, incidents and changes originating from internal or vendor applications. Investigate incidents and problems and determine root cause using ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Splunk, Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Monitoring. Specific duties include: 1) Troubleshoot and resolve issues in live production environments and implement strategies to eliminate them with minimal support. 2) Oversee applications through automation, and support and monitor new and existing services, platforms, and application stacks. 3) Engage in improving the lifecycle of services deployment, operations, and refinement. 4) Provide technical expertise during service impacting events. 5) Collaborate with other engineers on code reviews, internal infrastructure improvements and process enhancements. 6) Use scalability testing to measure, tune and optimize system performance. 7) Participate in periodic 24x7 on-call duties and be accountable for resolving the outage via workaround or permanent fix. 8) Ensure all administration and reports are maintained and up to date including contacts information technical diagrams post major incident reviews. 9) Responsible for communicating with various stakeholders and shipping IT Communication. 10) Responsible for the effective implementation of the process Incident, Change and Problem Management and conduct the respective reporting procedure. 11) Monitor the incidents to ensure that the Service Level Agreement is respected. 12) Identify initiate schedule and conduct incident reviews. 13) Ensure the closure of all resolved and end-user confirmed Incident records. 14) Establish continuous process improvement cycles where the process performance activities, roles and responsibilities, policies, procedures and supporting technology are reviewed and enhanced where applicable. 15) Head Proof-of-Concepts on Splunk implementation, Splunk indexing and plugins, mentor and guide other team members on understanding the use case of Splunk. Telecommuting permitted from any location in the U.S.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate site reliability engineering or related IT experience in software development process including experience in scale testing, disaster recovery, and capacity planning; setting up monitoring in applications and database; and working on cloud platform such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services or Azure.

*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Experience with Container technologies including Kubernetes, Docker and PKS. 2) Experience in third-party services and third-party vendor management. 3) Experience using ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Azure Monitor and Google Cloud Monitoring. 4) Experience in banking domain. 5) Knowledge of Splunk Enterprise Deployments, log parsing, Splunk searches including external table lookups, Splunk data flow, components, features and product capability.

The salary for this position is $176,134 per year.
