Your Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Consulting

  • Empower decision-making for business leaders. Uncover critical business insights that impact key decisions. Create decision models that perform sensitivity analyses across a range of options.

  • Create financial models, research, and analyses of trends to optimize financial opportunities regarding revenue enhancement and expense management throughout the organization that would have a mid to long-term impact to our financials and operations.

  • Synthesize findings and make concrete recommendations. Translate insights and concepts to actionable recommendations.

  • Build trusted relationships with key leaders across the company through strong financial support, helping them meet business objectives, increase revenue, and improve profitability.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to assess future brand growth by evaluating opportunities and long-term feasibility of hotel franchise projects.

  • Refine reporting frameworks used with senior executives and operational leaders to ensure they are aligned with our strategy, value-focused, and actionable.

  • Serve as a mentoring expert for our extended financial team and scale efforts by teaching advanced analytics techniques to other associates

Strategic Opportunities

  • Research and articulate the strategic rationale and risk/return characteristics of large opportunities across a variety of verticals and geographies.

  • Model financial value and long-term feasibility of prospective deals and other large opportunities (strategic investments, partnerships, new franchise agreements, major initiatives). Perform scenario analyses, summarize financial and strategic value, and offer recommendations on next steps.

Long-Range Planning

  • Manage the creation and updating of a multi-year long-range plan (LRP) for the International Division, in partnership with global stakeholders and enterprise finance teams.

  • Refine the preparation of budgeting and forecasting models, ensuring that our regional projections properly consider our largest drivers of value.

  • Partner with other functions to enhance overall governance and funding process for key corporate initiatives, including the development of business cases to drive optimal investment decisions.

  • Work with teams across the finance function (accounting, tax, treasury, investor relations, etc.) to ensure broad alignment.

  • Communicate results and plans in narrative presentations, executive memos, and leadership meetings.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred.

  • 5+ years of financial analysis experience, ideally with a major consulting firm, financial services firm, investment firm (investment bank, private equity, REIT, venture capital), or Fortune 500 company strongly preferred.

  • Financial modeling and understanding of financial investment metrics (NPV, IRR) and overall costing/profitability analysis required.

  • Knowledge of common business cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis required.

  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word.

  • Candidate must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and an ability and desire to learn quickly.

  • Ability to research and synthetize large amounts of market and financial information into clear presentations, and to build compelling narratives leveraging relevant information.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision.

  • Strong competency skills required in the following areas: customer service, organizational skills, analytic and problem solving, innovation and creativity, providing business reason for change, decision-making, programs & project management, listening to others, and creating an inclusive culture.

  • Experience with Financial Planning, ERP, and BI tools a plus.

  • Knowledge of Spanish preferred but not required.

Your Team

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Director, International Finance. You will have multiple peer teammates and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Strategic Finance Manager, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtually from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
