State of OK JD McCarty Center Occupational Therapist in Norman, Oklahoma

 

J.D. McCarty Center is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team.  The ideal individual should be passionate about working with children, ready to learn and enjoys collaborating with an interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapy, speech therapy and ABA therapy.  The J.D. Salary ranging from: $66,000 to $80,000 and will be based on experience.

Responsibilities include:

Evaluation – Completes initial and ongoing comprehensive evaluations appropriate for the needs of the patient including occupational therapy evaluations, feeding evaluations, school contract evaluations and equipment evaluations.  Administers and interprets assessments and completes written summary of the findings within established time frames as specified in departmental and agency policies and procedures. Determines the need for therapy and makes appropriate recommendations. 

Treatment Planning/Intervention - Develops and implements an occupational therapy plan of care with the results of the evaluation, identifies long term and short term goals, collaborates with client, family, other professionals, and community resources.

Determines duration and frequency of OT services, and documents program plan within policy guidelines.  OT will become therapist of record for patients evaluated and will be responsible for supervising the COTA, ensuring plan of care is being followed and updated appropriately and will sign off on documentation for that patient.

Documentation - Completes and maintains current documentaion for medical records within the time frame and guidelines specified in center policies, including but not limited to,  self-care assessment, daily progress notes, evaluations, re-authorization reports and discharge summaries.

Student Supervision - Acts as clinical instructor in instruction of OT, OTA, and pre-OT students in prinicples, methods, and theories of pediatric occupational therapy, supervises other personnel in conjunction with client program plan.

Caregiver training/education - Provides appropriate education and training to client and/or his caregivers/family.  Designs home programs which are individualized to meet the client’s needs.  Utilizes written materials, verbal instruction and demonstration which are adapted to the trainee’s age, literacy level, cognitive ability, etc.  Informs the client and caregivers of progress, problems, and other issues related to the therapeutic process.  Coordinates with outside health care providers for post-discharge or concurrent treatment.

Center and Department policies - Organizes and prioritizes work schedule in order to meet the productivity standards established by the Department.  Attends and participates in departmental meetings, inservices, and other meetings.  Complies with Center and Department policies and procedures

Complies with the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Practice Act and adheres to the AOTA Code of Ethics.

    About J.D. McCarty Center:

    J.D. McCarty Center is a unique 36 bed pediatric rehabilitation hospital for children with disabilities birth to 21 years of age. Patients are admitted for a 30-day evaluation during which they are assigned a treatment team consisting of nursing unit, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional services, social services, psychological services, behavioral analysis, and recreational therapy. Our 80-acres campus includes an on-site elementary, intermediate, and high school which is staffed by Norman Public School teachers. Patients may continue treatment needs beyond the 30-days as an in-patient in habilitation status based upon progress or placement needs. We are a tobacco and vape free facility.
