Robert Half Tax Director/Manager - Corporate in Norfolk, Virginia
Description We are looking for a proficient Tax Director/Manager - Corporate to join our team in the transport industry, based in Norfolk, Virginia. The role involves managing federal and State tax compliance activities, facilitating the preparation of international and U.S. income tax returns, and responding to IRS notices or inquiries.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the preparation and review of the quarterly income tax provision process for the quarterly and year-end tax provision computations.
• Oversee the data gathering of all intercompany transactions to assist in the preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
• Facilitate the gathering of information for the preparation of income tax returns for the U.S., foreign bank account reports, trust returns and enterprise zone credits.
• Prepare and review the annual tonnage tax calculation and work closely with external consultants to ensure timely and accurate preparation.
• Ensure booked income on tax returns is in alignment with audited financial statements for the relevant companies.
• Assist in managing and responding to federal and State audit requests as directed and provide assistance for internal analysis and support for the audit and appeals process.
• Undertake research on U.S. and International tax issues as needed.
• Prepare 1120 and 1120 F Federal Tax returns and various State tax returns.
• Complete any miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned. Requirements • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, ATX Tax Software, CCH ProSystem Fx, and CCH Sales Tax
• Familiarity with various compliance software tools
• Mastery in accounting functions and annual income tax provision
• Experience in auditing and compliance
• Ability to create and maintain detailed and accurate documentation
• Knowledge and experience in the transport industry
• Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is preferred
• Proven experience in a similar role within a corporate setting.
