Lockheed Martin SPY/ Aegis Combat Weapons System Field Support in Norfolk, Virginia

Description: The engineer shall provide on-site field engineering and technical support services in support of PEO IWS 1FR Aegis Fleet Readiness waterfront efforts. The engineer will perform:

• Shipboard fleet technical services for the AN/SPY-1 Radar transmitter, antenna and signal processor as well as associated support systems to include:

o Engineering / technical evaluations

o Assessments

o Equipment functional checks

o Technical assists

o Troubleshooting, analysis, and equipment repair

o Leverage preventive and corrective maintenance as training opportunities to develop and enhance US Navy sailor technical proficiency

o Work as a team with system engineers, computer program developers, test engineers, technicians, and customer representatives to support Aegis Weapon System (AWS) readiness as required

o Support special tests and investigations

o Provide verbal and written reports to leadership and other key functional and program organizations as required

International travel, the ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends may be required. Some underway shipboard technical support periods are required. Overall annual travel approximately 30-40% (CONUS/O-CONUS US Navy fleet concentration areas and CONUS/O-CONUS underway as required). Bonuses and incentives may be available for work performed onboard underway Navy ships (CONUS or O-CONUS) and O-CONUS fleet concentration area assigned work.

US Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience as a technician working on a USN Destroyer (DDG) or Cruiser (CG)

• Experience with radars and supporting elements

• Basic electronic and radar theory

• Electronics troubleshooting

• Familiarity with technical publications

• Must possess a working knowledge of general-purpose test equipment, diagnostic tools, computers and computer programs

• Must also possess good interpersonal skills (both written and oral communications) and be capable of working independently or as part of a team

• Must have the technical competency and willingness to develop themselves into a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Aegis Weapon System (AWS), specifically the AN/SPY-1 Radar

• Missile Defense Adjunct, Ballistic Missile Defense Signal Processor, Multi-Mission Signal Processor experience

• Understanding and experience with the maintenance and operation of USN Aegis Weapon System as a SPY-1 Radar technician for one of the following AN/SPY-1 Radar variants: D/D(V)

*Qualified candidate must have a DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position. US Citizenship is required.

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with Navy PMS (OPNAVINST 4790 series) or other maintenance system (preventative or corrective)

• Experience working with other MIL-SPEC and COTS equipment/systems

• Fiber Optic Repair technician certification (MIL-STD-2042/MIL-STD-1678) and/or Connection/Wire Wrap certification (MIL-STD-1130C)

• Navy Ratings: Aegis Fire Controlman (SPY, ACI/ACNT, FCS/ORTS)

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
