Introduction

A Licensing Specialist's mission in IBM is to conduct software licensing reviews with a goal to measure client software consumption. After consumption is compared to software entitlement, licensing specialists are responsible to find mutually acceptable software licensing resolutions (they are responsible for pricing, negotiation, and legal contracts).

With credibility as a knowledgeable market and industry advisor, you'll lead client software license reviews, including negotiations and resolutions to preserve and protect IBM's Intellectual Property whilst being laser-focused on client satisfaction.

Being highly skilled in conflict management and in preserving client relationships, you'll use your consultative style to clearly explain complex constructs of deals, articulating IBM's licensing terms and conditions. Using exemplary communication skills, you'll illustrate the value of the solutions provided and position best fit contracts that provide ultimate value for your clients.

Your role and responsibilities

Seeking talented individuals to join our WW Team SAM who is responsible for working on the challenges of IBM software licensing as well as conducting licensing entitlement and deployment analysis to enable clients to adhere to licensing terms.

Required technical and professional expertise

Job Requirements:

• Tool Data Analysis: Analyze and summarize data from IBM z Software tools (e.g.SCRT, TADz) to validate software usage, ensuring adherence to software licensing requirements and IBM terms and conditions. This also involves examining IBM Z complex mainframe environments.

• Licensing Knowledge: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for IBM z software licensing to ensure that customers adhere to the z SW licensing requirements.

• Deployment Comparison: Compare customer software deployment with entitlements in line with process requirements and guidelines, to mitigate risks and reporting errors.

• Entitlement Reconciliation: Validate entitlement data in the IBM entitlement systems for accurate entitlement quantities and identify potential opportunities for additional license purchases.

• Documentation: Track and document key account information across various request types.

• Support ad hoc requests: such as answering IBM z licensing questions, researching product manuals for z software licensing guidance, providing z software licensing support.

• Speed of Execution: Perform the tasks in line with the expected turnaround time

Qualifications/Required Skills:

• Experience with IBM z software licensing and tools (e.g. SCRT, TADz)

• Ability to understand knowledge of IBM’s z licensing rules

• Ability to analyze system generated data for IBM z software licensing

• Provide strategic guidance and technical assistance for IBM z software licensing and remediation efforts (e.g., answer technical SCRT/TADz questions, provide feedback on z software licensing issues).

• Desirable experience in a client-facing role, with the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously and addressing high-visibility requests with executive exposure.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and technologies.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

• Fluent English

• Software Product Knowledge: Knowledge of various software products such as Cloud Pak for Business Automation, Cloud Pak for Integration, running on Z with Native API, SAP on IBM Cloud, IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions, Instana, Turbonomic, Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, Enterprise AIOps, and Red Hat OpenShift on IBM.
