Johnson Controls Material Coordinator in Nisku, Alberta

Roles and Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for the Fabrication team. Develop and maintain advanced Excel spreadsheets and databases to track material usage, inventory levels, and cost analysis. Implement strategic inventory management practices, including forecasting demand, setting stock levels, and initiating proactive measures to prevent shortages or overstocking. Collaborate closely with engineering, purchasing, and production departments to optimize material specifications, streamline processes, and resolve any issues related to material availability or quality. Utilize advanced MRP/ERP systems to generate reports, analyze data, and provide insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to sheet metal fabrication and incorporate them into the material management processes. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the Materials and Fabrication team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

In-depth understanding and attention to detail regarding Bill of Materials (BOM) information, including the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues arising from incomplete or conflicting data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with multiple departments, provide comprehensive explanations. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and track open items to completion. Extensive knowledge and experience in Manufacturing Operations, MRP/ERP systems, and Inventory Management, including implementing best practices. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and data analysis tools to manipulate and interpret complex data sets. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to make informed decisions under pressure. Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.

Working Conditions:

The Fabrication Material Coordinator primarily works in an office environment but may occasionally visit the shop floor to ensure effective material flow and address any related concerns. Manual dexterity is required to operate desktop computers and peripherals. The shop environment may present hazards, and adherence to safety policies and caution is crucial. The role requires efficient time management, task completion, and effective communication while ensuring safety.
