Aerotek Tool And Die Maker in Niles, Michigan

Description:

The candidate will be responsible for making, troubleshooting, and repairing single-hit and progressive dies. They will do a lot of inspecting the dies using calipers, micrometers, and height gages to make sure the molds are correct and will produce good parts. They do metal stamping there and run more production than job parts. They will be working with 2 other tool and die tech's out there that will help them out if they need help. They will be doing a lot of work with progressive dies. They need to have experience with blueprints, doing some manual machining, and ideally some fabrication experience as well.

(0) 1st shift: 6:00am to 2:00pm

(5) 2nd shift: 2:00pm to midnight

(3) Weekend shift: 4:00am to 4:00pm (Friday through Sunday - work 36 hours and get paid for 40 hours)

Pay: $25 to $30

Job Duties:

  • The job is split evenly between bench work and reactive maintenance (have own workbench)

  • Repair or remake tooling and dies for production (various machines: hydraulic press (single hit) and progressive dies) These dies vary from 10 ton- 1200 ton

There are currently 20 presses ranging in size.

  • Bench Jobs 40% and reactive 60%

  • Ability to use manual lathes and mills

  • Utilization of dry grinders

  • Tolerances: .001" - .020"

  • Operating saws to cut own order bar stock

  • Interpretation of in-depth blueprint drawings

  • Determination of data from blueprints (i.e. hole sizes, tool sizes, reference points, and direction of machine cutting paths)

  • PM sharpening of various tooling
