JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

Responsible for day-to-day care of children under the supervision of a Day Care Teacher.  Promote a positive learning environment for children. Assists with education programs that comply with local and federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•    Efficiently communicate and coordinate with day care teachers and assist teaching daily lesson plans.

•    Offer individual support to students in small groups to promote the understanding of more challenging concepts.

•    Assist the day care teacher with the safety of the students inside of the classroom, during field trips and on playground.

•    Ensure students adhere to the school or daycare stated rules and policies.

•    Help children participate in activities including crafts, games and other educating activities.

•    Provide additional assistance to students who have special needs.

•    Ability to manage potentially challenging behavior from students and maintain a professional and patient demeanor

•    Experience supporting positive relationships with children and adults in a learning environment

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or its equivalent or one year of experience working with children less than 13 years of age.   Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality. Excellent communication and listening skills.  Must have basic computer knowledge including Excel, Word, Publisher, Outlook and PowerPoint. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds and must infrequently lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually highly noisy.
