Materion Logistics Specialist ( 1st shift Truck Driver) in Newton, Massachusetts

Responsible for Timely, accurate and safe movement of materials, chemicals and equipment between plants on company property. Receives, verifies, documents and delivers to requesters all materials received from outside sources. Position requires ability to safely operate a 24’ box truck, various Powered Industrial Truck equipment. And is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, professional work area.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Using Powered industrial equipment, loads and unloads truck safely and securely, makes note of shortages, identifies damaged goods, and routes material to proper in-plant destinations as needed.

  • Maintains truck in good safe working condition and identifies when maintenance is required.

  • Communicate with team members to determine what and when materials need to be moved between buildings and departments.

  • Maintain proper inventory of Logistics packaging materials in remote storage area.

  • Working with delivery companies receives inbound materials at the dock.

  • Checks packages for damage and makes note of any damages identified on BOL.

  • Verifies package count and signs delivery Bill of lading ( BOL)

  • Using packing list identifies materials, purchase order information then using a keyboard enters receiving information into the company data base. (SAP)

  • Maintains receiving log for records.

  • Monitors Hazardous Satellite storage areas and moves materials to central Hazardous storage area as needed.

  • Sorts and delivers incoming mail to central distribution boxes in each building.

  • Able to drive the truck on public roads to fill gas tank and perform infrequent pick up at local vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Requires a high school degree or equivalent

  • Ability to operate fork truck and other shipping relates powered industrial equipment.

  • Requires fork truck license within 30 days. Training will be provided.

  • Licensed driver with highly reliable driving record

  • Must have or be able to complete Hazmat Training in accordance with CFR 49 HM 181, 215A, and 215B

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
