Full Time Weekend Nurse (36 hour - Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, from 9 am to 9 pm)

Recently named by The Boston Globe as one of theTop Places to Work in Massachusetts, our community based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization seeks a Weekend Nurse to join its expanding On-Call team. Position includes weekend hours and at least one week day. Travel to provide care in patients private homes and residential facilities throughout Greater Boston and parts of Metrowest. The ideal candidate is well-organized and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment. This position is eligible for a $5000 sign-on Bonus.

Job Description:

The Weekend Nurse is an integral part of a interdisciplinary hospice team responsible for caring for patients at the end of life. Makes home and hospital visits, provides information sessions, evaluates new patients, facilitates admissions to hospice services and coordinates care planning. Employs triage and assessment skills to titrate medications and manage symptoms appropriately and provides education to patients and families about terminal disease and end-of-life process. Communicates with a interdisciplinary hospice team about changes in patients needs, and outcomes of interventions. The position includes weekend hours and at least one weekday - Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, from 9 am to 9 pm (36 hours/week)

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts, Bachelors preferred

  • 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of hospice or equivalent nursing experience

  • Sensitivity to and knowledgeable about end-of-life issues

  • Comfortable working with socioculturally diverse patients/families

  • Demonstrates ability to manage pain and control symptoms

  • Demonstrates flexibility and multitasking abilities

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Adaptable to frequently changing patient needs

  • Adaptable to technology
